★ Parent Reference · Everything In The App

Everything BrightStart does, in one place.

A plain-language walkthrough of every world, mission, reward and Parent Zone control in BrightStart — so you always know what your kid is playing and why.

Getting Started

From install to first badge in under two minutes

BrightStart doesn't require an account to start playing. Here's the whole path from opening the app to earning a first badge.

01

Set Up Your Explorer

Enter a name and age band on first launch — this tunes mission difficulty and pacing from the start.

02

Clear a Curriculum Level

On the Curriculum tab, clear Level 1 in Math, English or Science — this is what unlocks every career world.

03

Pick a World

The Home tab now shows every career world unlocked. Tap one to see its missions.

04

Play a Mission

Answer a short set of English, Math or subject questions themed around that career.

05

Check Progress

XP, coins and badges land immediately — see them summarized on the Progress tab anytime.

Global Curriculum Challenge

An international-curriculum ladder for Math, English & Science

Before any career world opens, BrightStart offers a quick, focused challenge in the subjects that matter most — and clearing it is what unlocks everything else.

Unlocks every career world

All 10 career worlds start locked. Clear Level 1 in any one of Math, English or Science, and every world unlocks at once — a quick learning win, not a payment gate.

3 levels per subject

Foundation, Progressing and Mastery — each subject has its own ladder tuned to your child's age band. Clearing a level unlocks the next.

Real international frameworks

Levels are labeled to reflect the standards real schools use for that age — Early Years Foundation Stage, Cambridge Primary, Cambridge Lower Secondary, IGCSE, or IB Diploma, depending on age band.

Never punished for a miss

A level needs 60% correct to clear. Falling short just means "try again" — nothing is lost, and questions never repeat until a subject's whole question pool has cycled through.

Progress bar per subject

The Curriculum tab shows a clear progress bar for Math, English and Science, so it's obvious how close the next level — or the next world unlock — really is.

Career Worlds

10 worlds, 10 careers, real subjects hiding in every one

Every world unlocks the moment your child clears a Global Curriculum Challenge level — nothing here is a paywall, it's a learning gate. Age bands are a guide to where a child will find the pacing comfortable, not a hard lock.

Missions & Rewards

How a mission works, and what it earns

Fresh questions every time

Each mission draws a handful of questions from a much larger pool, so replaying the same mission serves up new questions instead of repeats.

Mission of the Day

A featured mission on the Home tab rotates daily and awards double XP and coins — a nice reason to check in each day, never a requirement.

50/50 Hint

Stuck on a question? A hint button eliminates one wrong answer — free to use anytime, no XP or coin cost.

XP and levels

Correct answers earn XP; XP adds up toward the next level shown on the Progress tab.

Coins

Missions also pay out coins alongside XP — another way progress is visible at a glance.

Badges

Badges celebrate milestones. Some are limited-time — collectible while they last, but never required to keep playing or to unlock anything else.

Equip a badge

Tap any earned badge on the Progress tab to equip it — it shows as a small frame around your child's profile picture everywhere in the app.

Streak freeze, never a punishment

A missed day per week is covered by one free streak freeze, so a busy day never erases progress or a streak.

Progress Tab

See exactly what your kid has learned

The Progress tab is the in-app dossier — a plain view of growth over time, no digging required.

Per-subject accuracy

Percent correct for each subject played, so it's easy to see where practice is paying off.

XP per subject

How much XP has been earned in each subject, alongside missions completed.

Current streak

Consecutive days played, with the weekly streak freeze already factored in.

Weekly best

A rolling look at the strongest week so far, to celebrate consistency.

Review Mode

Missed questions are saved automatically. A "Review Missed Questions" card appears whenever there are any waiting — no time pressure.

Parent Zone

The controls that keep play healthy — all in one screen

Parent Zone is reachable from the app's main navigation at any time, and several settings are protected behind your phone's own lock screen.

Family Profiles

Add a profile for each child, switch between them anytime, and each one keeps its own separate progress, XP, coins and badges.

Edit Child Profile

Change your child's name or age band — protected behind your phone's fingerprint, face, or PIN lock, so only a parent can make the change.

Screen Time Controls

Set a daily play limit (15/30/45/60 minutes, or off) and quiet hours (e.g. 8 PM–7 AM). BrightStart pauses play automatically outside those bounds.

Weekly Report

A one-tap summary of missions completed, XP earned and current streak for the week — share it with the other parent, a grandparent, or a teacher.

Usage Analytics opt-out

Anonymous gameplay analytics (missions completed, badges earned — no personal data) can be switched off anytime with a single toggle.

Profile Picture

A personal touch, set in two taps

01

Tap the avatar

The circular profile picture in the top corner of Home or Parent Zone opens a photo picker the first time it's tapped.

02

Choose & crop

Pick a photo from the library and crop it to a square before it's saved as the profile picture.

03

Tap again to zoom

Once a photo is set, tapping the avatar again opens an enlarged view of it rather than the picker.

04

Edit or close

The zoomed view has Edit (choose a new photo or remove it) and Close buttons.
